I am SO excited to announce a new photo project I've been working on and have finally worked up the nerve to tell people about! It's called the Just Dogs Project and it's an effort to celebrate and represent responsible dog guardianship and fight breed discrimination through beautiful, intimate documentary photography.
I believe that, like people, dogs deserve to be recognized as individuals, not lumped into random groups considered "dangerous" because of their appearance. I think that breed specific legislation and breed bans and discriminatory practices, no matter which breeds are involved, are hurtful to dogs and people and are not effective in keeping anyone safer or happier.
Through this project, I hope to inspire people to see all dogs as "Just Dogs" and to look at each dog they meet as an individual. I hope to encourage people to adopt a dog they once might not have considered a "family dog" and experience the love and companionship they have to offer. And I hope that people will take a critical look at breed specific legislation and breed bans and decide for themselves if they are fair to all.
I want to photograph you and your dog! For free! Check out the submission form here to submit your dog for consideration for the project.
